Jun 21, 2015 · Yes, you are right, there are not too many direct flight to Marsa Alam due to its remote location (we were flying from Vienna, but it was a charter flight and everything was organized by a tour agency). Usually people fly to Hurghada, than take a taxi to Marsa Alam (the trip takes about 3 hours, depending on your hotel’s location).

I went on the bus about a year ago in the other direction from Aswan via Edfu to Marsa Alam. I think it took about 4 hours cost about 30 Egyptian Pounds, and had a pretty violent, very loud video service included in the price!
